Ronald R. Poirier
Practice Focus
Mr. Poirier represents individuals, professionals and businesses in all aspects of litigation. His practice focuses primarily on complex civil litigation in state and federal court, professional malpractice defense, high-end personal injury plaintiff's cases, banking law and family law. Mr. Poirier is admitted to practice before all Courts in the State of California, and the Federal District Court of California for the Eastern and Northern Districts, as well as the United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. He is a member of the California State Bar and the Sacramento County Bar Associations.
Mr. Poirier was a former prosecutor with the Sacramento County District Attorney's office where he prosecuted over 20 felony/misdemeanor jury trials and more than 75 felony/misdemeanor court trials.
Affiliations
Mr. Poirier is currently a Commander in the United States Naval Reserve having spent his military career in naval aviation and related areas.
Representative Cases
- Wells Fargo v Sparks: Prosecuted fraud, conversion, breach of contract action with partner Mark Ellis. Prior to trial, defendant entered into a stipulated judgment for damages in excess of $1,600,000.

- Andrews v Shearer: Prosecuted personal injury action with partner Mark Ellis. Prior to trial plaintiff received a settlement in excess of $1,000,000.
- Hartwick v Woodside: Prosecuted breach of contract/conversion action with partner Mark Ellis, which settled during trial for a substantial sum.
- Loduca v Polyzos dba QMC: Prosecuted breach of contract/conversion action with partner Mark Ellis. After jury trial, plaintiff received a substantial damage award including an award of over $200,000 in attorneys' fees and costs.
- Martin v Homeside: Prosecuted predatory lending action with partner Mark Ellis. Prior to trial plaintiff received a substantial settlement.
- Holesapple v Shepard & Haven: Legal malpractice action dismissed against attorney clients; settlement in favor of client attorneys on the fee cross-claim in excess of $480,000.
- Bernal v Lockshin: Legal malpractice action dismissed against attorney client; settlement in favor of client attorney on the fee cross-claim in excess of $500,000.
- Miller v Lockshin: Legal malpractice action dismissed against attorney client; settlement in favor of client attorney on the fee cross-claim in excess of $100,000.
- Wells Fargo v Remedios: Defended violation of privacy rights/breach of contract action. Plaintiff sough damages in excess of $500,000. Prior to trial, case was dismissed by the court.
- Masters v Roberts: Defended legal malpractice action with partner Mark Ellis. At trial plaintiff sought damages from attorney client in excess of $1,500,000. Case settled prior to jury selection for less than $50,000.
- Hassan v Kissilowicz: Defended breach of contract/fraud action. Plaintiff sought damages in excess of $2,000,000. Case settled prior to jury trial, with client paying no monetary damages.
